Japanese modern art from the Tomioka Collection


“Tsuru-zu [Cranes]” by Kansetsu Hashimoto

This exhibition displays modern art from Japan. It features paintings by renowned Japanese artists, such as Gaho Hashimoto, Kanzan Shimomura, and Kansetsu Hashimoto. Oil paintings on exhibit include Tomoe Yabe’s “Rafu [naked woman],” a recent addition to the collection entitled “Heiwa Shomei [Peace Petition]” by Yabe, and Kunishiro Mitsutani’s “Balcony.”

  • Hours: 10:00 – 17:00 (Admission until 16:30)
  • Closed: Sundays and Holidays
    *the exhibition will also be closed from 12/23/16 (Fri) – 01/05/17 (Thurs) due to winter break
