On July 7, 2026, Waseda University welcomed 50 high school students from Ghana and C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire as part of the Japan-Africa Youth Program, organized by the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE). The visit provided the students with an opportunity to learn about higher education in Japan, experience campus life at Waseda University.<\/p>\n

The program was implemented in line with the Yokohama Declaration adopted at TICAD9, held in 2025. It aims to foster a network of young people who will shape the future of Japan and Africa, empower them to co-create the shared future as equal partners.<\/p>\n

The visit began with a campus tour, including photo opportunities at Okuma Auditorium and\u00a0 Okuma Garden. The students then attended a presentation by the International Admissions Office (IAO), which introduced Waseda University and its academic programs. Participants also heard from a student from Benin, West Africa, who is currently enrolled in the TAISI Program<\/a> at the School of Social Sciences and, shared firsthand experiences of studying at Waseda. The students listened attentively throughout the session and actively participated in a lively question-and-answer discussion.<\/p>\n
