The Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics will be held from March 6th to 15th. Two former members of Waseda University’s Ski Club will be participating, one as a competitor and one as a guide.<\/p>\n

Momoka Muraoka, a current doctoral student in the Graduate School of Sport Sciences, will be competing in her fourth consecutive Winter Paralympics, and alum Yuhei Fujita will be participating in his third consecutive Winter Paralympics as a guide skier.<\/p>\n

Muraoka will be competing in her fourth consecutive Winter Paralympics, following Sochi in 2014, PyeongChang in 2018, and Beijing in 2022. She is a dual-sport Paralympian, also having competed in the Athletics Women\u2019s 100m T54 category at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in 2021.<\/p>\n

Muraoka won four medals, including three gold, at the previous Beijing Games, and will be aiming for the gold medal at the Milan-Cortina Games as well.<\/p>\n

I am honored to participate as Ryohei Ariyasu’s guide skier at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Paralympics. Since graduating, I have been training at the Tokorozawa Campus alongside the Waseda University Ski Club, and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. I will strive to showcase the results of this training at the Paralympics. I intend to give my absolute best to achieve a satisfying performance with Ryohei Ariyasu. About Guide Skiers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Guides are important figures, skiing ahead of the athletes and acting as their “eyes,” communicating course conditions (such as the angle of curves and changes in slope) through voice and sound.
