On May 20th, 2025, Waseda University welcomed His Excellency Mr. Timraz Rejava, Ambassador of Georgia to Japan and a 2011 graduate of Waseda\u2019s School of International Studies, along with Mr. David Goginashvili, First Secretary of the Embassy of Georgia in Japan. The delegation met with Waseda University President Aiji Tanaka and Vice-president Gemma to discuss avenues for deepening academic and cultural cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the meeting, Ambassador Rejava reflected on his personal connection to Waseda and engaged\u00a0in a wide-ranging dialogue covering Georgian history and culture, current international affairs, and the potential for future collaboration in education and research. The discussions underscored the importance of fostering mutual understanding and academic exchange between Japan and Georgia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ambassador Rejava, known for his active engagement on social media, emphasized the need for accurate information dissemination in the context of the complex geopolitical landscape of his country. \u201cWe need to carefully disseminate correct information,\u201d he stated. \u201cOne of my roles is to correct biased narratives by steadily sharing factual content.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

President Tanaka echoed these sentiments, highlighting the role of academic institutions in promoting peace through informed dialogue. He also introduced several research initiatives at Waseda that align with these goals.<\/span><\/p>\n
