Notification of revision of expressions referring to faculty and staff in the May 5 message regarding the University\u2019s policy on tuition<\/h1>\n

In the message posted on May 5 about the University\u2019s policy on tuition<\/a>, my statement did not clearly specify the categories of faculty members and staff being referred to, and the expressions used might have led to some misunderstanding. Therefore, I would like to revise the original statement, although the University\u2019s stand on tuition remains the same. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that might have been caused.<\/p>\n

I would like to revise the 6th<\/sup>\u00a0paragraph of the message, which was originally as follows:<\/p>\n

Also, the University libraries have been paying huge sums to several international e-journal\/e-books companies for annual subscription to e-journals and e-books. These subscriptions enable all students and faculty to access a wide range of e-journals and e-books at home via internet. Accordingly, faculty members can prepare their lectures, and students can learn from home during the pandemic. A significant part of tuition is for this purpose.<\/p>\n

The revised version is the following:<\/p>\n

These subscriptions enable all students, full-time faculty, and full-time staff<\/u>\u00a0to access a wide range of e-journals and e-books at home via the<\/u> internet.\u00a0(For faculty members who are not full-time, we are making efforts to slightly expand services through the library.)<\/u> Accordingly,\u00a0full-time<\/u>\u00a0faculty members can\u00a0conduct research from home and reflect their research findings in<\/u>\u00a0their lectures, and students can learn from home during the pandemic. A significant part of tuition is for this purpose.<\/p>\n
