Dear Incoming and Current Students,<\/p>\n

Given the current situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the university has made decisions on the following four items:<\/p>\n

1. Start Date of Spring 2020 Semester<\/h3>\n

The Spring 2020 semester, which comprises of the Spring and Summer quarters, will start on Monday, May 11.<\/p>\n

To students belonging to the e-School (Internet Degree Program) of the School of Human Sciences, Waseda Law School and Waseda Business School (Graduate School of Business and Finance), please refer to your respective schools\u2019 websites for information on when your classes will start as they may differ.<\/p>\n

2. Incoming Student Orientation & Class Registration<\/h3>\n

Incoming student orientation and class registration for all students will be, in principle, carried out online. For more details, please refer to your respective undergraduate or graduate schools\u2019 websites.<\/p>\n

3. Classes for Spring 2020 Semester to be Conducted Online<\/h3>\n

All classes for the Spring 2020 semester will also be, in principle, conducted online.<\/p>\n

4. Preparation for Taking Online Classes<\/h3>\n

In order to take online classes, you will need some prior preparation. For more details and instructions, kindly refer to the website below.

The above measures are laid out to minimize any form of disruption in case a state of emergency is declared by the nation, where residents are requested to stay at home and refrain from going out. As a considerable number of you are currently still overseas, these measures will ensure that you will be able to start your semester and classes smoothly as long as you have access to the internet in an event you are not able to enter Japan by the time the Spring 2020 semester starts. This is in line with the pledge to \u201cleave no one behind\u201d adopted in the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n

Please check your inbox as well as your school\u2019s and the university\u2019s websites regularly for the latest announcements and updates. Please also remain calm and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and the people around you.<\/p>\n
