Every year, for a limited period, the shrine gives out the return-of-spring <em>omamori <\/em>(Japanese charms or amulets) to visitors. Since December 22 last year, they have been doing so and will be giving out <em>omamori<\/em> until February 3, 2019.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/top\/en\/assets\/uploads\/2019\/01\/190118_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Temporary shops at\u00a0Anahachimangu Shrine<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Besides its\u00a0literal meaning, the \u201creturn-of-spring\u201d is often used as an analogy for the favorable return of good luck (as in \u201cspring\u201d) after bad fortune (as in \u201cwinter solstice\u201d). As such, the return-of-spring <em>omamori<\/em> is particularly well known among people working in banks and the financial sector because it is said to bring good luck and fortune to businesses as a new year begins.
