The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan announced the top 10 research institutions for each newly funded research field approved over the past five years (2013 \u2013 2017) under the Grants-in-Aid Scientific Research<\/a>\u00a0project.<\/p>\n

Out of the 336 research fields, Waseda University claimed top position in 16 research fields, doubling from a total of eight last year. Among all public and private research institutions, Waseda University came in 5th<\/sup> in overall ranking for having the most number of research fields ranked number one. In addition,\u00a0Waseda is ranked 1st<\/sup> across all private universities in Japan under the same ranking.<\/p>\n
