\"1hironori-kasahara\"Professor Hironori Kasahara<\/a> has been voted president-elect for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Computer Society<\/a>. He will become the first president from Japan in the Society’s 70-year history. Headquartered in New York, IEEE<\/a> is the largest non-profit academic organization that has over 420,000 members in more than 160 countries. The Computer Society, which is based in Washington DC, is IEEE’s largest technical society and one of the most internationally influential academic organization promoting research, education, and industry-academia collaborations. More than 60,000 plus members belong to the Computer Society.<\/p>\n

Professor Kasahara, who will begin his presidential appointment in 2018, served on IEEE\u2019s Board of Governors from 2009 through 2014 and has held various positions within the Society. Moreover, he serves as director of the Advanced Multicore Processor Research Institute<\/a> of Waseda University’s Green Computing Systems Research Organization<\/a>, where he promotes the industry-government-academia collaboration in the development of the world’s highest-performing multicore processors and the high-speed parallelized compiler for multicore processors.<\/p>\n

Professor Kasahara’s contributions in developing the world’s highest performing parallelization compiler technology and his activities in IEEE Computer Society being recognized has led to the election’s result.<\/p>\n
