Waseda University and ASICS Corporation has been working together to give back to local communities and society at large by promoting sports since March 2016. The ASICS CAMPUS STORE WASEDA (an official ASICS Store) opened on campus on September 24 (Sat) to commemorate the Waseda-ASICS partnership. The store sells sporting goods, with a focus on college sports, and Waseda-ASICS collaborative items.<\/p>\n

Media outlets and student athletes attended the opening ceremony held at Ono Memorial Hall on September 23. Captains from the tennis, track and field, rugby, and American football clubs stood on stage and expressed their expectations towards their respective clubs.<\/p>\n

As surprise guests, the ceremony welcomed Nobuya Kato (3rd year, School of Sport Sciences) and bronze medalist Hajimu Ashida (Track and Field Club alumnus). Both athletes participated in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, and the enthusiastic audience cheered for Kato and Ashida when they spoke of their aspirations for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.<\/p>\n

The concept of the store is “NEW WASEDA OUTFIT.” Being more than just a sporting goods shop, the ASICS CAMPUS STORE WASEDA represents Waseda pride and invites all Waseda fans to stop by. Customers can enjoy shopping in a laid back atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Items sold include training jackets, shirts, and pants in bordeaux, Waseda’s school color, and replica uniforms of the major sport clubs on campus. Discounts are available for Waseda University, students, faculty, and staff. For more information, please contact the store directly.<\/p>\n
