His unfailing leadership and fortitude have brought the nation together, leading Timor-Leste&#8217;s independence in 2002. This degree honors Gusm\u00e3o&#8217;s significant contributions to the country&#8217;s peace-building and state-building.<\/p>\n<p>To mark this occasion, Waseda University will be holding an award ceremony on the following date and time, along with a special lecture by Gusm\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<h4>Date and Time<\/h4>\n<p>October 6, 2016, Thursday<\/p>\n<p>10:00 am ~ 11:15 am (Tentative)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9:30 am ~ 9:55 am\u3000Registration<\/li>\n<li>10:00 am ~ 11:15 am\u3000Conferment of Honorary Degree &amp; Special Lecture by Kay Rala Xanana Gusm\u00e3o<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Venue<\/h4>\n<p>Waseda University, Okuma Auditorium, Small Lecture Hall<\/p>\n<h4>Participants<\/h4>\n<p>Waseda University students, faculty and staff, invited guests, general audience<\/p>\n<h4>Language<\/h4>\n<p>Japanese and English (simultaneous interpretation provided)<\/p>\n<h4>Important Notice:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Due to security reasons, re-entry is not allowed once the event starts.<\/li>\n<li>During the event, all cellphones must be turned off.<\/li>\n<li>Changing seats is not allowed.<\/li>\n<li>No audio or visual recording devices are allowed in the auditorium.<\/li>\n<li>Anyone who causes a disturbance during the event (i.e., yelling, carrying posters or signs) will be asked to leave the premises.<\/li>\n<li>The event will be recorded for publicity purposes.
