Reflecting on their victories, the trio says that despite the pressure there have been few hardships. \u201cI first teamed up with Takahashi last year. After winning the Autumn Kanto Students League Tournament, we also won the Most Valuable Pair Award just before going to the Intercollegiate Championship. We weren&#8217;t nervous and were able to enjoy each game,&#8221; said Odono. Takahashi commented, \u201cI think we were able to clinch the finals because we were used to overcoming close matches. This allowed us to go to the finals with confidence.\u201d Oshima said, \u201cThe top 16 Japanese athletes at the Intercollegiate Championship and skilled international students can participate at the Invitational. I wanted to pay back my coach from high school who came to cheer me on, so I\u2019m really glad I won.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wasedaweekly.jp\/upload\/1438\/1372_%E3%81%B4%E3%83%BC%E3%81%B7%E3%82%8B_%E4%B8%8A_%E5%B0%8F%E9%81%93%E9%87%8E%E3%83%BB%E9%AB%98%E6%A9%8B%E5%85%A8%E6%97%A5%E5%AD%A6%E5%84%AA%E5%8B%9D2.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year marks their last tournaments as students for the three athletes. Odono is the women\u2019s captain of the Tennis Club. Yume Takahashi: Originally from Niigata, Takahashi graduated from Niigata Sangyo University&#8217;s Attached High School. Yuya Oshima: Originally from Kyoto, Oshima graduated from Higashiyama High School. He was selected for the 2015 men\u2019s National Team. After graduating, Odono and Takahashi plan on joining a corporate team, while Oshima intends to continue pursuing table tennis as a professional.
