His thorough competence in politics, economic and foreign policy helped Singapore become a highly developed country, and contributed to the development of Asia as a whole.\u00a0Lee was instrumental in creating the peaceful and stable development of Asia which has gained notice around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of his remarkable accomplishments, Waseda awarded Lee its honorary doctorate in 2003.
