President of Guinea speaks about challenges of Africa and Japan

President Alpha Condé visits Waseda University
President Alpha Condé of the Republic of Guinea visited Waseda University and spoke on the theme “Challenges of Africa and Japan” at Ono Azusa Hall on June 21.
President Condé was a professor at the University of Paris and has served as head of the African Union (AU) since January 2017. During his lecture, he talked about the solutions for developmental issues Africa faces today, the need for African nations to unite, the importance of aid from Japan, and the political roles AU should play in the future.
Prior to the lecture, President Condé met with University President Kamata, Vice President Morita, and Professor Sadaharu Kataoka to exchange opinions regarding English-based degree programs and financial aid available at Waseda University. President Condé seemed impressed by Waseda’s history and its large international student body of 5,400.
