Waseda University mourns the passing of former German president Roman Herzog.

With great admiration and respect for Mr. Herzog‘s dedication and strong leadership as the first president of a reunified Germany that gave the people of Germany hope and courage, we awarded the honorary doctorate to Mr. Herzog on April 7, 1997.
