In 2006, Waseda established the International Community Center (ICC) as a base for cultural exchange among Japanese and international students. With support from student “Staff Leaders” and university staff, the ICC continuously organizes events aimed to promote diversity. Some of the most popular events are language exchange sessions and sports events. However, there are also themed events and alumni talk sessions that cover topics ranging from regional disputes to stateless persons. ICC hosts around 300 events every year with nearly one event per day. Approximately 15,000 people attend the events every year and around half of them are international students.

Next year will be ICC’s 10th anniversary and to commemorate this occasion, ICC will organize many new events where Japanese and international students can interact in true cultural exchange. Taking advantage of the diversity of our international campus, ICC is providing a learning environment for Waseda’s up-and-coming global leaders.

Please refer to the ICC website and facebook page for news and information on upcoming events.
