    What is QE?
In this program, there is an examination before advancing to year 3 (TD3). Students who have completed at least 30 units of prescribed courses and have published at least 1 research paper are eligible to take this examination. The examination consists of an oral interview examining research results, degree of understanding, and research plans from TD3 and beyond.
If I fail QE, will I be unable to proceed to the doctoral course?
Though the policies for each major will be different, as a rule, you will still be able to move on. However, you will be unable to take part in program courses and activities required for TD3 and beyond.
Can I only take QE once?
You can try again. You will get detailed feedback on your exam results, so examine and overcome your weak points, devise a sound strategy for improvement, and challenge the examination once more.
