The opening hours for these two days are 10:00 \u2013 17:00.<br \/>\n*Everybody is welcome to enter.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3178 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/library\/assets\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ab9fdf0f296379d8ac2ec21770fb380d.jpg\" alt=\"\uff28\uff30\u7528\u30dd\u30b9\u30bf\u30fc\u753b\u50cf\" width=\"317\" height=\"448\" \/>A quarter of a century has passed since the opening of the Central Library. During this period, we have digitized the rare materials in the Library and made them available online. This project, with the objective to preserve the valuable materials while promoting their use, earned international recognition. However, it is also true that we still receive requests from many people that they want to look at the actual materials \u2013 so, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Central Library, we decided to exhibit the rare materials in the Library. Including the national treasures which will be displayed for the first time in a decade, various master pieces will be showcased in the three exhibitions with three different themes.<\/p>\n<h3>[Mar. 17 \u2013 Apr. 5] Waseda University Central Library 25th Anniversary Exhibition Part 1: National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties in Waseda<\/h3>\n<p>Two national treasures and five important cultural properties in the Library will be exhibited. One of the national treasures <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/ro12\/ro12_01134\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Raiki Shihon Sogi<\/a><\/em> is the material donated from the Imperial Household Minister Mitsuaki Tanaka to the first director of the Library Kenkichi Ichishima in 1905. When Ichishima visited Tanaka in the autumn of 1914 to express his gratitude, he was offered the donation of the other national treasure <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/ho04\/ho04_02555\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Gyokuhen<\/a><\/em>. As for important cultural properties, historically valuable materials will be showcased, including \u201c\u014ctsuki Gentaku Kankei Shiry\u014d\u201d in the collection of the fourth director of the Library Chibiki Okamura \u201cYogaku Bunko,\u201d and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/bunko12\/bunko12_00001\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Owarinokuni Gunji Hyakuseira Gebumi<\/a><\/em> in \u201cOgino Kenkyu\u0304 Shitsu Shu\u0304shu\u0304 Monjo\u201d the collection of Minahiko Ogino, an emeritus professor of the University and a great authority of paleography.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Coming Up Next<\/h3>\n<p>[Apr. 10 \u2013 Apr. 27] Waseda University Central Library 25th Anniversary Exhibition Part 2: Japanese Antiquarian Books<\/p>\n<p>Master pieces of Japanese antiquarian books will be exhibited. Last year, Yoshiaki Fukazawa, the first Library director from the science field, and his team made the see-around, virtual reality video clips of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/chi04\/chi04_02084\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Atsumori Emaki<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/bunko30\/bunko30_b0423\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Genji Monogatari Emaki<\/em><\/a>. In this exhibition, their actual materials will be showcased. Also, one of the showpieces <em>Shiratsuyu<\/em> is the only copy existing in the world, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/nu06\/nu06_09355\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Futabatei Shimei Nikki<\/em><\/a> which the Library acquired in 2015 will be displayed for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>[May. 10 \u2013 Jun. 2] Waseda University Central Library 25th Anniversary Exhibition Part 3: The Materials from Across the Sea<\/p>\n<p>The Central Library has been proactively collecting rare materials from foreign countries. In this exhibition titled \u201cThe Materials from Across the Sea,\u201d those overseas materials will be showcased. As for Chinese books, the Song dynasty edition of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wul.waseda.ac.jp\/kotenseki\/html\/ha04\/ha04_00824\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Issaiky\u014d Ongi<\/a><\/em>, known not only for its value as a historic source but for its beauty, will be displayed.
