The direction of Japan’s decarbonization transition is highly contested, with people wondering feasibility of such an ambitious climate target. However, feasibility and desirability are mixed in people’s minds, with the former being more normative and the latter more descriptive. Moreover, the evaluation or assessment of decarbonization transition feasibility is difficult. Limited previous literature mainly conducted historical analogies or expert assessment methods. Are the mitigation pathways towards carbon neutrality in Japan feasible? The answer still needs insights from experts.

We proposed a survey to collect the perspective of experts on the feasibility of carbon neutrality in Japan. The survey is developed with inputs from semi-structured interviews with experts. The results will contribute to a better understanding of the most important enablers and barriers of decarbonization transition in Japan, as well as the multi-dimensional feasibility towards carbon neutrality.

Prospected Audience

Graduate students, Faculty members of university, General public

Registration

Please send an e-mail titled “Nov. 19th WIAS Sustainability Seminar” including your name and affiliation to rieem.waseda [at] gmail.com by November 17 (Wed).

You will receive a reply mail with registration URL.

“Can Japan Transition to Carbon Neutrality?: Perceived Feasibility based on Expert Perspectives” ( […]

[95
82,94,73
post-8489","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-en","tag-events-en","tag-general-en","tag-research-en
["GET
