Seminar 4: The Reform edict of 1856 and the (still) burning issue of equality<\/h2>\nOutline<\/h6>\n
An analysis of the process which brought the Tanzimat reforms to their climax with the promulgation of the Reform Edict granting full equality to all subjects of the Sultan and a broader contextualization of the notion of equality in a hierarchical and inegalitarian society whose fundamental principle was \u2013 and still is \u2013 justice\/equity.<\/p>\n
