Time and Friendship across China\u2019s Northeastern Borders<\/p>\n

This research focuses on the temporal qualities of both everyday and more formal relations between China, Russia and North Korea \u2013 ties often glossed as \u2018Friendships\u2019. From a mid-twentieth-century period of socialist amity between the three states united on progressive paths towards communism, to a postsocialist era of more divergent and ambivalent national-historical trajectories, I explore how cross-border relations among people and peoples are mediated through diverse understandings of time on a variety of scales.<\/p>\n
