Advanced Study.\u00a0 She specializes in the modern history of China and Central Eurasia and Islamic studies.\u00a0 She received her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D., from the University of Tokyo, in 2017.\u00a0 She has conducted research at the Harvard Yenching Institute, the National Chengchi University, and the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences.\u00a0 She is the author of numerous scholarly articles which explore the social history of Sinophone Muslims and the Turkic people in today\u2019s Xinjiang, their relations with the Ottoman, Japanese, and Russian empires, and Japan\u2019s Islamic policy in the
