Sato says he has learned much through engaging in architectural design.

“I learned how difficult it is to work with someone who has a different opinion. When the things you want to do differ, you discuss and discuss again, creating something even better as you grope for a solution. I’m being a bit grandiose here, but I really learned a lot about life. I really experienced how important it is to listen to what another person has to say.”

Since he was in elementary school, Sato’s dream has been to become an architect. “I was influenced by my father, who loved architecture and would never miss an episode of the architecture-themed TV program, Watanabe Atsushi no tatemono tanbo (TV Asahi). I’ve always loved thinking up ideas, and after I graduate, I’d like to find a job where I can make use of my planning abilities. In architecture, you have to think about a wide range of things, from the movements of people to urban development, so I get most excited when I’m envisioning things,” says Sato with a twinkle in his eyes.

“I’m interested in the influence buildings have on the people who use them and the surrounding neighborhood. In the 2014 Architectural Institute of Japan Design Competition, an architectural contest for students sponsored by the institute of the same name, his jointly created “Mini Train Station Which Connects Neighborhoods” was selected as one of 12 works out of a total 293 submitted for an honorable mention. The aim of this ambitious piece was for it to be placed in the city of Kure in Hiroshima in order to pass on to future generations the historical scenery being lost due through the development of transportation infrastructure and mini train stations. Traveling frequently to the actual site they had in mind, the design took two months to complete. Because of his achievement in the competition, Sato was awarded the Waseda Student Culture Award in 2014.

Selected for　an honorable mention in an architectural design competition Second year, Graduate School of Creat […]

[206
214,245
post-16277","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-attention-en","tag-people-en","tag-news-en
["GET
