To start the 2025 fall semester, let’s go hiking at Mt. Takao!<\/p>\n

Mt. Takao is incredibly popular, seeing around 2.5 million climbers per year. It earns rave reviews from people all over the world and even has three stars in France\u2019s Michelin Guide!<\/p>\n

Mt. Takao has historical spots like Yakuouin<\/a>, the main temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, as well as a huge variety of nature: crystal-clear streams, 1600 species of plants, and over 100 different species of birds are found on the mountain. Have your phone or camera fully charged to capture the precious moments along the trail.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re worried about making it to the summit, you can travel halfway up on Japan\u2019s steepest cable car (31 degrees!), so even novice hikers can get to the top.<\/p>\n
