{"id":6987,"date":"2025-10-10T17:17:46","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T08:17:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/wcans\/?p=6987"},"modified":"2025-10-10T18:16:49","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T09:16:49","slug":"durham-university-executive-dean-clive-robers-visits-waseda-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/wcans\/news-en\/6987","title":{"rendered":"Durham University Executive Dean Clive Roberts visits Waseda University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Clive Roberts, Executive Dean in the Faculty of Science at Durham University in the UK, visited Waseda University on October 10, 2025, to discuss the research progress of both universities.<\/p>\n<p>Representing Waseda University during the visit were Professor Masahiko Gemma, Vice President for International Affairs; Professor Yasuhiro Hayashi, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Director of the Waseda Center for a Carbon Neutral Society and Chairman of the Advanced Collaborative Research Organization for Smart Society; Professor Keiichiro Kondo, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor Fumiaki Maehara, Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor Shigeo Morishima, Faculty of Science and Engineering; Associate Professor Nobuko Hanada, Faculty of Science and Engineering; Associate Professor Hiroshi Kikusato, Faculty of Science and Engineering; and Associate Professor Eri Amasawa, Waseda Center for a Carbon Neutral Society.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">After receiving opening remarks from Vice President Gemma, Associate Dean Kondo provided opening remarks of his own, followed by an introduction to the university\u2019s research activities. Next, with Associate Professor Amasawa acting as moderator, the following professors provided updates on their research progress: Professor Hayashi and Associate Professor Hiroshi Kikusato on smart energy systems, Professor Maehara on 6th generation mobile communication systems, Professor Morishima on AI and robotics, and Associate Professor Hanada on clean energy (hydrogen and ammonia). Afterwards, Professor Hayashi led a lab tour of the EMS Shinjuku R&amp;D Center.
