The all-weather track & field stadium has a 400m 9-lane track. It has acquired third level authorization from the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and is also the home ground of Waseda's running team. The stadium was named in 2005 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikio Oda (now deceased). Oda was the first Japanese athlete to win a gold medal, which he achieved in the triple jump at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. Oda was the first athlete to be honored by Waseda University for his contribution to sports.
