The two ranked the highest among Japanese participants, at 33rd place. Began yachting at the age of seven. In 2014, he competed in the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships, winning a bronze medal. After graduating from high school, he moved to New Zealand, where sailing is popular, intending to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Games. In 2015, Koizumi enrolled in\u00a0Waseda\u00a0University&#8217;s Faculty of Human Sciences through the distance learning program.
