A sports and liberal arts seminar was held on Sunday, November 11, through collaboration of seven universities.<\/p>\n

The venue for the first day of the 3-day symposium was the International Conference Center of Waseda University. Blessed with fine weather, the seminar was attended by over 50 students, who listened to the lectures with great interest.<\/p>\n

In the morning session, three lecturers covered a wide range of topics centered on \u201cthe significance of the Tokyo 2020 Games and culture and education in the 21st century,\u201d including the history of Tokyo through the Olympics and Paralympics games over a period from 1964 to 2020, the meaning of global human capital, and the history and culture of the Olympics and Paralympics Games.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon session, the participants were divided into two groups, and each groups learned deeply about how to get involved in the Games and English as a globalized language through the Games volunteers\u2019 talks on their experiences.<\/p>\n

One of the last two lectures was on the relationship between globalization and communication through music in terms of liberal arts. The other was given by an ex Para-Olympian, who talked enthusiastically about his experiences at the Olympics and Paralympics Games together with his own philosophy of life.<\/p>\n

A convivial gathering was held after the lectures. Participating students from each university made remarks on the seminar before the seminar ended.<\/p>\n

We are very grateful to the students who attended the seminar as well as faculty members and administrators who supported it. The second-day seminar will be held in Sophia University and the third-day seminar in Rikkyo University.<\/p>\n
