Waseda University alumni Marina Tokumoto (affiliated with Tokyo Gas Life Asahi, and Waseda University Swim Club, graduated from the School of Social Sciences in 2018) has been selected to represent Japan in water polo.
On May 19, the Japan Swimming Federation announced the 24 men and women who will represent host country Japan in water polo at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and Tokumoto was selected.

Marina Tokumoto:
Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1996, she graduated from the Waseda University School of Social Sciences in 2018. She began playing water polo in junior high school and plays the center back position. She was on the podium in 3rd place at the 18th Asian Games in 2018, and participated in the World League Intercontinental Cup in 2019, finishing 5th. In 2019, she also competed at the 18th FINA World Championships.
