Waseda Graduate Akito Watabe claims a Combined Total of Third Place in the Combined Large Hill Individual Competition of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships

Waseda alumni Akito Watabe (currently employed at Kitano Construction Corp., 2011 graduate of the School of Sports Sciences) came ninth in the 15th and final round of the men’s combined large hill individual competitions at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, which took place in Klingenthal in Germany.

He came 14th for his ski jump in the first half, but raised his standing with the cross country in the second half, finally finishing in ninth place with a 48 second difference from first place.

In addition, Waseda alumni Ryota Yamamoto (currently employed at Nagano Hino Motors Ltd., 2020 graduate of the School of Sports Sciences) came first place in the ski jump in the first half and then fifth place in the cross country in the second half.

Watabe won a total of seven awards in individual competitions, including coming first the eighth round held in Finland, giving him a combined individual ranking of third, so he finishes the season on a high note.
