On January 21, a class to provide training for student foreign language hospitality volunteers (hereinafter ‘hospitality class’) was held at Waseda Saga Junior High/High School. The school is located in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture and is directly affiliated with Waseda University. The class was offered to students who will be going to university in the spring of 2020.
In light of the 2020 Olympics/Paralympics in Tokyo, the class aimed to provide training for volunteers who will help foreign tourists through providing directions and other assistance, ensuring they have a pleasant stay.
The same class was also held last year, with students working in groups and roleplaying, challenging themselves to give directions in English while studiously taking notes.
