A modern pentathlon is an Olympic event that has athletes compete across five events in a single day. These include fencing, equestrianism, swimming, and a laser-run (running and shooting). Ms. Saito began her pentathlon and fencing training in junior high. While studying at Waseda, she participated in the university’s fencing club. She contributed greatly to the club through her role as the captain of the woman’s team.
Keep cheering Ms. Saito on as she continues her post-graduation sporting career!
