In Japan Open held during 5/30-6/2, Makino Hiroko (2nd Year, Swimming Club) came in 2nd in the women’s 200M Butterfly with a record of 2 mins 07.32 secs. Subsequently, she won the chance to represent the Japanese team in the upcoming World Championship, with a heart to try and break the current world record.
Moreover, Waseda swimming team alumni Ippei Watanabe took 1st place in men’s 200M Breaststroke (2 mins 07.87 secs), Kanako Watanabe also came in 1st in women’s 200M Breaststroke (2 mins 23.65)
Seto Daiya took 2nd place in men’s 200M Butterfly, and Sakai Masato came in 3rd place in the same race.
