Measures for the Spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cancellation and Postponement of Extracurricular Activities<\/p>\n<p>The university has posted the preventive measures for the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on its website on February 23. In order to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus,<strong>\u00a0please cancel or postpone all extracurricular activities scheduled to take place between now and March 24 that fall under any of the following below.\u00a0<\/strong>If you have any questions, please consult the Student Affairs Section.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Events with a large number of participants (i.e. 30 people or above)<\/li>\n<li>Events where many senior citizens are expected to attend<\/li>\n<li>Events that involve close physical contact between participants (e.g. social gatherings)<\/li>\n<li>Domestic and overseas club\u2019s training camps, tours and away games<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In line with the above,\u00a0<strong>the use of the following facilities for the purpose of extracurricular activities, which a large number of people is expected at any given time, will be suspended from February 25 to March 24.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>*Suspended Facilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Seminar House (Karuizawa, Matsudai, Sugadaira, Izu-kawana, Kamogawa, Honjo)<\/li>\n<li>Waseda University Student Center (Training Center, B101, B201, B202, B203, W403 \u2013 405, W406 \u2013 407)<\/li>\n<li>Waseda Shogekijo Drama-Kan Theater<\/li>\n<li>Waseda Arena (Multipurpose court)<\/li>\n<li>Okuma Garden Hall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I would like to apologize to the students who have prepared so hard for each activity and event. However, it is the university\u2019s utmost priority to take appropriate preventive measures and to make sure that all classes and research activities resume as normal when the new academic year\/semester begins in April. At the same time, we also have the responsibility to provide safe and secure places for extracurricular activities as much as possible. We thank you for your kind understanding and cooperation on this matter.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, please exercise caution, maintain good hygiene and take general precautions such as wearing a mask, washing your hands and rinsing your mouth to minimize the chance of getting infected by the coronavirus. If you experience a high fever, coughing or any other cold symptoms, please stay at home and refrain from going out.
