{"id":8496,"date":"2021-03-11T17:08:30","date_gmt":"2021-03-11T08:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/sgu\/?p=8496"},"modified":"2021-03-11T17:08:30","modified_gmt":"2021-03-11T08:08:30","slug":"mr-kouki-oka-has-received-the-11th-fy2020-jsps-ikushi-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.waseda.jp\/inst\/sgu\/news-en\/2021\/03\/11\/8496\/","title":{"rendered":"Mr. Kouki Oka has received the 11th (FY2020) JSPS IKUSHI Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mr. Kouki Oka, 4th-year doctoral student of the Department of Advanced Science and Engineering (5-year Doctoral Program), School of Advanced Science and Engineering, has received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsps.go.jp\/english\/e-ikushi-prize\/awards.html\">the 11th (FY2020) JSPS <em>IKUSHI<\/em> Prize <\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c7Research Title<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDevelopment of Redox Polymers for Hydrogen Storage and New Functions\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In FY2020, 165 doctoral students were nominated by the Presidents of the Japanese universities and academic associations, and 18 prize recipients have been selected. Mr. Oka has been studying under Prof. Hiroyuki Nishide and Prof. Kenichi Oyaizu, the members of the Energy and Nanomaterials Unit. Also, he participated in the Joint Supervision Program and has carried out research investigation under Prof. Martin Sj\u00f6din at Uppsala University.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsps.go.jp\/english\/e-ikushi-prize\/index.html\">JSPS <em>IKUSHI<\/em> Prize<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 2009, JSPS received an endowment from His Majesty the Emperor Emeritus Akihito on the 20th year of his reign. Amidst a severe economic environment in Japanese society, His Majesty\u2019s desire was to encourage and support young scientists who are working diligently to advance their studies and research.<\/p>\n<p>In deference to his wishes, JSPS established the JSPS Ikushi Prize and placed it into operation in FY 2010. It functions to formally recognize outstanding doctoral students who can be expected to contribute to Japan\u2019s future scientific advancement.
