The conference was partially sponsored by Unit for Multiscale Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, Top Global University Project, Waseda University. AFSI 2019, fourth conference in the AFSI series, was dedicated to Tayfun E. Tezduyar (James F. Barbour Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Rice University and Joint Appointment Professor, Waseda University). Takashi Kuraishi, Yuto Otoguro, Takafumi Sasaki, Yoshihiro Shibata, Kenji Takizawa, Takuya Terahara and Tayfun Tezduyar gave presentations on their leading-edge research. Other FSI and flow simulation researchers presenting their leading-edge work included Narayan Aluru (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), Yuri Bazilevs (Brown University), Alessio Castorrini (University of Rome), J.S. Chen (University of California San Diego), Alessandro Corsini (University of Rome), Ming-Chen Hsu (Iowa State University), Thomas J.R.
