The origins of this field lie in mechanics and symplectic geometry, but the field developed rapidly towards the end of the 20th century, producing sophisticated concepts which unify many of the classical ideas and provide a mathematical foundation for applications to quantum theory. Participants will gain an overview of the field and be informed about typical applications. Each lecture (or course) will include introductory material – graduate students and researchers in mathematics, physics, and engineering are welcome.

Special lectures

Dates: June 24-28, 2019
Time: 10:40~16:15
Venue: Nishi-Waseda Campus, Room 60-303, Nishi-Waseda Campus, Waseda University

Audience : For All

Admission : Free

Registration : No need

Language : English

Contact : Prof. Martin Guest martin□waseda.jp　□→@

COURSE 1: “Introduction to Poisson geometry” by Prof. Yvette Kosmann-Schwarzbach (Ecole Polytechnique, retired)

Schedule:
Monday June 24, 10:40-12:10
Tuesday June 25, 10:40-12:10
Wednesday June 26, 10:40-12:10 [or discussion/problem session]
Thursday June 27, 10:40-12:10
Friday June 28, 10:40-12:10

Plan of the lectures
References for the lectures

COURSE 2: “Applications of Poisson geometry and related topics”

Schedule:
Monday June 24, 13:00-14:30 Speaker: Prof. Yuji Hirota (Azabu University)
Tuesday June 25, 13:00-14:30 Speaker: Prof. Hiroaki Yoshimura (Waseda University)
Wednesday June 26, 13:00-14:30 Speaker: Prof. Noriaki Ikeda (Ritsumeikan University)
Thursday June 27, 13:00-14:30 Speaker: Prof. Yoshiaki Maeda (Tohoku University and Tohoku Forum for Creativity)
Friday June 28, 13:00-14:30 Speaker: Dr. Tomoya Nakamura (Waseda University)

Titles and abstracts of the lectures

COURSE 3: “Introduction to moduli spaces of flat connections” by Prof. Nan-Kuo Ho (National Tsing-Hua University)

Schedule:
Monday June 24, 14:45-16:15
Tuesday June 25, 14:45-16:15
Wednesday June 26, 14:45-16:15 [or discussion/problem session]
Thursday June 27, 14:45-16:15
Friday June 28, 14:45-16:15

Plan of the lectures
References for the lectures

Poisson geometry, moduli spaces, and applications These lectures (consisting of 3 courses) will provide an int […]

[18
83,109
post-5323","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-en","tag-events-en","tag-en-mams
["GET
