This is the fourth following the program with Monash<br \/>\nUniversity, Australia, University of Bonn, German, Korea University, South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>In AY2016, Waseda University appointed Uppsala University Professor as a Joint Appointment faculty<br \/>\n(JA Professor). It enabled him to engage course teaching and research guidance to our PhD students.<br \/>\nThese opportunities facilitated educational and research collaboration between two universities.<br \/>\nUppsala professor accepted our PhD student at his laboratory and participated in the student\u2019s<br \/>\ndefense as one of examiners.<br \/>\nThese relationshop brougt more solid collaboration framework as start of the Joint Supervision<br \/>\nProgram. The students in the Program will spend some time<br \/>\nat their host university for face-to-face research guidance, and supervision is carried out under<br \/>\nmutual cooperation and consultation between the two supervisors. In addition, because this Program<br \/>\nwas designed with the purpose of implementing a joint doctoral degree program in the future, the<br \/>\nstudents are required to take courses with their supervisor at the host university.
