Essex University and Waseda University (Center for Empirical Analysis of Political Economy, Top Global University project) will co-organize the Essex University Summer School (ESS) at Waseda University<\/strong> this summer.\u00a0 ESS will offer one course, \u201cScaling Methods and Ideal Point Estimation\u201d (September 18-26).<\/p>\n

The following students are eligible.<\/span> *the number of seats is limited (up to<\/span> 30<\/span> students)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
–<\/span> Have already learned the basics of regression analysis (e.g. least squares method) (regardless of their academic<\/span>
affiliation or university)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
–<\/span> Basic understanding of the statistical language R (e.g. manipulating data frames, reading and writing<\/span> files, creating<\/span>
functions)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
Although our main targets are graduate students, the courses are also open to undergraduate students.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
The course<\/span>s<\/span> will be taught in<\/span> English.<\/span> The tuition<\/span> fee is<\/span> \u00a3<\/span>2<\/span>00<\/span> per course.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Upon the completion of the course,\u00a0 Essex University will issue their formal certification. Thus, it may be possible to transfer the course\u2019s credits (2 credits) to your university\u2019s credits. Please ask your department and university to check whether the credits can be transferred. Students in the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University who wish to transfer the credits must consult with the SPSE Office (ryugaku11@list.waseda.jp) before participating in the program.<\/p>\n
