Societal networks at large that are main targets of network (or related) research include online and offline communication networks, contact networks among humans, networks of firms, banks, and nations, bibliometric networks, as well as laws governing synthesis of those systems such as power laws. Those with social science backgrounds and STEM backgrounds both collect data and analyze such societal networks, sometimes with different methods and often with different goals.

The workshop aims to have a variety of presentations from different perspectives, aiming at cross-fertilizing and discussing research results, future issues, and possible collaborations across disciplines.

Center for Multiscale Analysis, Modelling and Simulation

“We hope the workshop serves as grounds for participants to discuss the possibilities of collaboration that surpass the boundaries of different research fields, allowing all to learn from each other. We hope this event also stimulates the curiosity of those from backgrounds such as the humanities or social sciences.”

Center for Positive/Empirical Analysis of Political Economy

“It is our great honor that Waseda University will host this great workshop this year, following the same event last year. This workshop provided us excellent opportunities to examine socioeconomic networks from many different perspectives and will surely do so this year.
