He mentioned how there are only a handful of people in the world, who are able to attend a four‐year university, in an international community. This comment, relative to all of us WISH residents, not only made us consider how blessed we are, but also gave us a chance to feel the responsibility in becoming a global leader.

Also, as the guest speaker, Professor Gail Curtis Anderson, from the school of Social Sciences, addressed the audience about contemporary Japanese society and culture from the world’s perspective, and how to live comfortably in Japan. As he himself experienced moving into Japan from his country, he gave practical tips to international students, such as the necessity of learning Japanese and the benefits of traveling in Japan.

Lastly, the Residence Life Center and the senior residents gave presentations about the “SI Program” and the “SI Award Trip and Domestic Trip”. WISH gives learning opportunities to SI program honors as “learning rewards”. This summer, the award trip was held in Malaysia and Korea. In addition to the SI award trips, WISH offers a number of on-site trips. This time, the participants of the Mt. Fuji study trip, which was one of the on-site trips, gave us a presentation about their experience, along with the Korea SI Award trip participants. All the presenters looked accomplished, which hopefully made the new residents want to join SI programs and the study trips. We wish they would enjoy WISH life through participating trips and events with other dorm mates.

(T.N.)

On September 24th, Waseda International Student Dormitory (WISH) Entrance Ceremony was held at the Ono Memoria […]

[97
82,120
post-3642","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-other-en","tag-events-en","tag-report-en
["GET
