(2018)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Spring Festival or Chinese New Year, is one of the most important and traditional holidays in China.<br \/>\nBecause it follows the lunar calendar which is different from the current Japanese and western calendar, the date changes every year, with this year&#8217;s being on February 5th.<br \/>\nThere are many other Asian countries which also celebrate their New Year on the Spring Festival, and it is said that around one third of the world celebrates on this day.<\/p>\n<p>During the Spring Festival, you see red decorations all around the town and there is an atmosphere of celebration everywhere. Even if you have never been to China, you&#8217;ve probably seen these decorations and felt this atmosphere in Chinatown in various countries across the world.<\/p>\n<p>Now at the ICC, we have created an event themed around New Year celebration \u201cSpring Festival\u201d.<br \/>\nWe have invited Waseda&#8217;s own Professor Yang Liming from SILS and students who are familiar with the spring festival to give an introduction of the culture and traditions of Spring Festival.<br \/>\nAfter the presentation there will be a Spring Festival Calligraphy workshop. You can make your own traditional Spring Festival decorations by writing lucky Chinese characters on beautiful red paper. After that there will be a cafe mixing time with special Chinese snacks of Spring Festival for you to try too!<\/p>\n<p>As well as that, during the event you can also take a look at a special gallery of articles by Waseda students from various parts of China which will decorate the ICC lounge. So if you are interested in Chinese culture, if you want to try chatting with Chinese students or you want to try out some Spring Festival traditions, come along and join us!<\/p>\n<h5>Program<\/h5>\n<p>1.
