It developed along with the spread of tea culture in the Kamakura period, and during the Edo period, as Kyoto’s “Kyogashi” and Edo’s “Jyogashi” vied with each other, new “Wagashi” were made one after another with unique designs full of ingenuity and style. Now at the ICC we have invited an expert from Waseda-seimon Street’s Wagashi store “Nanarica” to host a Wagashi making class! You will be taught professionally how to make Wagashi step by step, so beginners will be able to easily make their own sweets too! So if you want to know more about Japanese traditional culture, more about Wagashi, want to make some new friends, or if you just have a sweet tooth! Come and join us! You can enjoy the Wagashi that you make while talking with other participants during our cafe time afterwards. We’re waiting for your application!

Date & Time

Oct 1(Mon) 2018, 4:30pm – 6:00pm (Reception starts at 4:15pm)

Place

Okuma Garden House (1F, Bldg 25)

Eligibility

Waseda University Students

Languages

Japanese & English

Fee

500 yen (pay on the day)

Registration

Required, register on Application form via MyWaseda

Deadline

Sep 28 (Fri) 9:00am

Capacity

40 people
(In the event of a large number of applications a lottery will be held, results announced on the deadline day)

Program

1.
