Sumo has fascinated people in Japan for centuries.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In addition to its long-standing tradition and history, sumo has increasingly come to be recognized as a competitive sport in recent years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this event, you will learn about the profound world of sumo, experience its training firsthand, and finally enjoy a special \u201cChanko-nabe\u201d hot pot prepared by members of the\u00a0Waseda\u00a0University Sumo Club.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you are confident in your physical strength, a complete beginner, or not particularly athletic, this program is designed so that everyone can\u00a0participate\u00a0comfortably.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Schedule of the Day<\/span><\/h5>\n

  1. Meet at Higashi-Fushimi Campus\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Introductory lecture on basic sumo knowledge<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Sumo training\u00a0experience (Shiko stamping,\u00a0Suriashi\u00a0shuffling,\u00a0Butsukari\u00a0pushing exercise, etc.)<\/span>
    \n*Wearing a Mawashi during the experience is optional. Those who wish may wear it over their clothing.\u00a0<\/span>
    \n*Activities involving physical contact will be conducted only for those who wish to\u00a0participate. You may join or not join each activity at your own comfort level.\u00a0<\/span>
