Have you ever seen a traditional Japanese performing art show?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many traditional Japanese performing arts in Japan, such as\u00a0Wadaiko\u00a0(Japanese taiko drums), shamisen,\u00a0yosakoi, Noh, etc<\/span>.<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0but it may be rare to have a chance to experience them live.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This time, we will invite\u00a0Waseda\u00a0University’s\u00a0yosakoi\u00a0circle “Tokyo\u00a0Hanabi” and\u00a0wadaiko\u00a0circle “Sakigake\u00a0Hibiki” to put on a show on campus!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this event-exclusive collaboration performance of\u00a0Yosakoi\u00a0and\u00a0wadaiko, a few participants will also have the chance to try playing the drums themselves!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tokyo\u00a0Hanabi\u00a0performs a spectacular\u00a0yosakoi, a traditional dance that originated in Kochi, and\u00a0Sakigake\u00a0Hibiki\u00a0impresses with its powerful drums, music and call and response yells.\u00a0Don’t\u00a0miss their stunning performances!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cooperation<\/h5>\n

Waseda University’s yosakoi circle “Tokyo Hanabi”<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Kochi-style <\/span>yosakoi<\/span><\/i> dance team with about 150 student members in total. There are both male and female dances, and the power and elegance of the performance is one of its charms. We also use <\/span>matoi<\/span><\/i> banners in our performances, which is rare for a student <\/span>yosakoi<\/span><\/i> team.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Waseda University\u2019s wadaiko circle “Sakigake Hibiki”<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are the only officially recognized taiko club at\u00a0<\/span>Waseda<\/span>\u00a0University, with about 45 members. The resonant sound of our\u00a0<\/span>wadaiko<\/span>\u00a0drums and the unity born from our close friendships are our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>strength<\/span><\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span><\/span>charm<\/span><\/span><\/span>. With expressive faces and spirited shouts, we deliver powerful energy to the entire venue. Please come and watch our lively performance!<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
