Wagashi<\/span><\/i> (Japanese confectionery) has been widely enjoyed since the Edo period.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Japan the four seasons are a big part of the culture. There are wagashi unique to each season. The design, naming and materials used express the sense of each season, and you can feel the four seasons by looking at and eating wagashi. <\/span>In this workshop, we will create \u201d<\/span>Snowman\u201d<\/span> and experience the elegance of the Japanese w<\/span>inter <\/span>season with all five senses.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We will invite an instructor from Baikatei, a shop in Kagurazaka, to hold a hands-on wagashi class. The master craftsman will teach you, so don\u2019t hesitate to join even if it\u2019s your first time! After making the sweets, you can enjoy eating them while talking with each other and taking pictures!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

International students who are interested in traditional Japanese culture and Japanese sweets, those who have a sweet tooth, and Japanese students who want to <\/span>deepen <\/span>their<\/span> understa<\/span>nd<\/span>in<\/span>g of <\/span>Japanese cul<\/span>ture and have <\/span>oppo<\/span>r<\/span>tunit<\/span>ies<\/span> to <\/span>interact with international students through it are welcome to join us!<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Takeshi Inoue<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Recognized as Excellent Master of Wagashi by the National Wagashi Association, Tokyo Meister by the Governor of Tokyo, and Master Craftsman by Shinjuku City. Part-time lecturer at Shinjuku Culinary Institute. Engaged in activities to increase the international recognition of Japanese confectionery, such as lectures in the U.K. for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs\u2019s Japan Brand Program. Lectured on tea ceremony and Japanese confectionery and held classes on Japanese confectionery for students from Ochanomizu University Senior High School and Harvard University. He is also a recipient of the Imperial Household Agency’s official warrant. Received the title Sogo from the head of Urasenke Zabosai tea school, and cooperated in the registration of wagashi as a national intangible cultural asset in 2023.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
