“Why did you become vegan?” “Isn’t it hard not to eat meat?”<\/span>
\n<\/span>Have you ever found yourself wondering these simple questions?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The vegan movement is spreading across the world. And here in Waseda University, more and more students are choosing to live as vegans or vegetarians.\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>However, it is also true that in Japan, there is still a limited understanding of veganism and the vegan lifestyle compared to Western countries.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This time, we will invite Mr. Ed Winters, a world-renowned vegan speaker, to talk about the significance and challenges of veganism, and its connection to environmental issues.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You will also have a chance to try actual vegan foods.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before deciding <\/span>whether or not<\/span> to become vegan, why not take a moment to think about a society where humans, animals, and nature can coexist in harmony?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We<\/span><\/span><\/span> hope this can be an opportunity to learn about veganism as a way of thinking and living, and to reflect on the<\/span><\/span><\/span> value<\/span><\/span><\/span> of diversity.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ed Winters is a best-selling author, vegan educator, public speaker and award-winning content creator.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He has given speeches across the world, including at the University of Cambridge, LinkedIn, Meta, Google, American Express, Pinterest and at every Ivy League college. Ed\u2019s online content has garnered hundreds of millions of views and he has given three TEDx<\/a>\u00a0talks, which have surpassed a total of 2.5 million views online.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ed has also taught a course at Harvard University as a Media & Design Fellow and has been featured on the BBC and on other major media outlets, including taking part in numerous debates on live television and radio.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2461Mr. Kojo Norio<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Cabinet Official, Cabinet Secretariat; Secretary-General of <\/span>Meat Free Monday All Japan<\/a><\/span><\/span>. He has been instrumental in advancing the introduction of vegan menu options into governmental cafeterias, beginning with the Cabinet Office cafeteria. In addition to these efforts, he has actively pursued nationwide initiatives that combine the promotion of plant-based diets with community engagement and social contribution.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2462Mr. Matsuzawa Takuya<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Takuya Matsuzawa is a PhD student at Waseda University\u2019s Graduate School of Law, specializing in constitutional law and animal rights law. He also serves as the president of the student organization
\nWaseda Vegan Cooking Circle<\/a>, where, through food, he encourages reflection on how people, animals, and the environment can be connected and understood.<\/p>\n
