Have you ever heard of Hanji, the traditional Korean paper?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hanji has a history of over 1,000 years and is known for its durability and eco-friendly nature.<\/span>
\nMade from the bark of the mulberry tree, it has been used throughout Korean history for everything from homes and furniture to clothing and books.<\/span>
\nDespite being made from natural materials, Hanji can last for hundreds of years, earning the nickname<\/span>,<\/span> \u201cthe paper that breathes.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this special ICC workshop, Ms. Soyeon, a certified Hanji artisan based in Tokyo, will guide us in creating our own Hanji craft pieces!\u3000You\u2019ll not only learn about the traditional materials, techniques, and cultural meaning behind Hanji, but also have the opportunity to make your own unique item\u3000using real Hanji paper.\u3000By tearing, layering, and pasting the paper by hand, you will experience the delicate process and deep charm of Hanji through all five senses.\u3000Of course, you\u2019ll be able to take your finished creation home as a special keepsake from the event!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re interested in Korean culture, love crafts, or simply want to try something new, this workshop is open to everyone.<\/span>

A certified Hanji (traditional Korean paper) artisan, recognized as a\u00a0<\/span>Meister Instructor by the Korea Hanji Promotion Association. She received the 5 Special Prizes including 17th Korea Hanji Grand Exhibition. Currently, she runs \u201cSuyeon Studio\u201d in Shinagawa, Tokyo, where she continues to pass on the tradition of Hanji through her creative and educational work.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
