I never knew what other uses the Tenugui<\/em> had besides using them for Japanese dance (\u65e5\u672c\u821e\u8e0a nihon buyou). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last month, I received a tenugui from a store. It was plain with their logo. My first thought was \u201cWhat am I even going to do with this piece of cloth?\u201d I just put it in my drawer and considered throwing it away as I saw no use for it. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However I was curious when I saw the ICC event. I thought that I finally had a use for them. I also wanted to learn about them, what was different from a normal piece of cloth or from those bento box wrapping cloths.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to this workshop, I discovered its many uses! It was mind blowing!! I loved the headband, it was simple and beautiful. I regretted not taking a better picture. At that moment I thought of the many uses I could give to all my stored tenugui.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Did<\/span> you<\/span> know<\/span> you<\/span> can use <\/span>them<\/span> under<\/span> your<\/span> clothes<\/span> to<\/span> keep<\/span> you<\/span> dry<\/span> in <\/span>summer<\/span> from<\/span> the<\/span> sweat<\/span>? I <\/span>did<\/span> not<\/span>! <\/span>Now<\/span>, I <\/span>want<\/span> to<\/span> use <\/span>them<\/span> under<\/span> my<\/span> suit<\/span>! <\/span>Later<\/span>, <\/span>we<\/span> learned<\/span> how<\/span> to<\/span> fold<\/span> it<\/span> to<\/span> hold<\/span> a <\/span>water<\/span> bottle<\/span>. <\/span>It<\/span> felt<\/span> so <\/span>stylish<\/span> that<\/span> I <\/span>went<\/span> home holding <\/span>it<\/span> like<\/span> that<\/span>. <\/span>It<\/span> was<\/span> my<\/span> \u201c<\/span>brand<\/span>\u201d bag. <\/span>When<\/span> I <\/span>got<\/span> home, I <\/span>looked<\/span> into<\/span> other<\/span> folding<\/span> techniques<\/span>. <\/span>It\u2019s<\/span> a <\/span>Pandora<\/span>\u2019s<\/span> box<\/span>,<\/span> f<\/span>ull <\/span>of<\/span> surprises<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition<\/span> I <\/span>learned<\/span> about<\/span> the<\/span> dyeing<\/span> process<\/span>, <\/span>called<\/span> Chusen<\/em>. I hope <\/span>to<\/span> do a workshop <\/span>for<\/span> that<\/span> too<\/span>. I <\/span>think<\/span> I <\/span>would<\/span> not<\/span> be <\/span>able<\/span> to<\/span> do <\/span>the<\/span> whole<\/span> process<\/span> as <\/span>the<\/span> technique<\/span> is<\/span> important<\/span> to<\/span> make<\/span> 25m <\/span>of<\/span> cloth<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> same<\/span> design<\/span> at once!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
