Do you want to learn more about Meiji Jingu Shrine, Tokyo’s premier sacred “power spot”? You may learn some interesting things that even Tokyoites do not know!<\/span><\/p>\n

Just like last year, the ICC is holding a field Trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine! Join us on a guided tour of Tokyo\u2019s most famous shrine<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>led by a Shinto priest.<\/span>
\nLearn everything, from basic information about Shinto to deep trivia that even Japanese people don’t know! This is a great chance to enjoy a place central to Japanese culture<\/span>.<\/span>
\nAfter the tour, complete your experience by dedicating an “<\/span>Ema<\/span>” (traditional wooden prayer plaque) with your very own wish written on the back.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And of course, Meiji Jingu is also rich with nature, the shrine\u2019s forest being 15 times bigger than Tokyo Dome baseball stadium. You can forget about the hustle and bustle of the city outside amongst the beautiful trees and chirping birds. Would you like to feel the refreshing autumn air, while learning more about Japanese culture? If so, this event is perfect for you! Please join us for this trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

*In order to reduce physical contact, you cannot share belongings among other participants. Be sure to bring everything you need for the event by yourself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Place<\/h5>\n

Meiji Jingu Shrine, start and finish at the shrine.(Meeting Place: Meiji Jingu “Jingu-bashi” Take the JR Yamanote Line to Harajuku Station and turn right out of Omotesando exit. Jingu-bashi is 50 meters away)<\/p>\n

Capacity<\/h5>\n

36 students. (In the event of a large number of applicants, a lottery will be held. Results will be announced by email on the deadline day.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fee<\/h5>\n

Ema and ceremony fee 300 yen
\n*The ceremony fee is given as a thanks to the shrine deities. (Please pay for your own transport to the shrine)<\/p>\n

Things to bring<\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n

Markers or felt tips (Mandatory, for writing on your\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ema<\/span><\/span>), Your mask (Mandatory), Participation fee (Mandatory), A drink (Optional)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

MC will be in both English & Japanese. Explanations mainly in English.<\/p>\n

Program<\/h5>\n

1. Guided walking tour from the entrance along the shrine path.\u00a0(50 mins.)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
\n2.\u00a0Dedicating “<\/span><\/span>Ema<\/span><\/span>” (10 mins.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants will be free to walk around the venue after the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>event.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Precautions to Prevent the Spread of the Novel Coronavirus<\/span><\/h5>\n

1. We ask that those affected by the following refrain from participating in this event.<\/p>\n

\u30fbThose who have a fever (above 37.5C or more than 1 degree above normal) or symptoms of a cold and\/or those who currently feel unwell (symptoms of fatigue or breathlessness etc.).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u30fbThose who have travelled to countries or regions and\/or have been in close contact with residents of these places within the previous 14 days where the government has implemented immigration restrictions or still requires a quarantine period to enter.<\/span>
\n\u30fbThose who have family members and\/or housemates they are living with that have shown symptoms of cold etc.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2.We ask that participants please wear a mask at all times. Also, that they observe strict hand disinfection and coughing\/sneezing etiquette.<\/p>\n

3.Regarding trash, please bring your own plastic trash bag with you and use it to keep your trash, please close the bag tightly when it is not being used.<\/p>\n

4.Please take strict care of your health from 2 weeks before the program right through to the end (regularly check your temperature and be aware of any other symptoms). We also ask that you avoid the 3 Cs (crowds, confined spaces and close contact situations) and fill in a health check form (we will share this form with you later on).<\/p>\n

5.In the event that you have a fever, cough or other symptoms during the event, we ask that you contact a member of staff immediately and that you withdraw from the event.<\/p>\n

6.In the event that you begin to show symptoms within 2 weeks after the end of the event we ask that you notify us immediately.<\/p>\n

7.We ask that you follow all instructions on the day from Meiji-jinguregarding measures for the prevention of the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.<\/p>\n

8.The \u201c<\/span>Waseda<\/span>University student compensation system (Compensation for Disability and Liability Coverage)\u201d which is a part of the university, does not apply to the Novel Coronavirus.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

9.Participation in this program may pose health and safety risks. Furthermore, there is a risk that the event itself may be harmed due to a person\u2019s illness.<\/p>\n

If any of the above occurs, it will be the responsibility of the person concerned.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
